Acquisition of minority stake in London Array offshore wind farm alongside Schroders Greencoat

Augusta & Co is pleased to have advised a large German family office in forming a partnership with Schroders Greencoat to acquire a 25% stake in the London Array offshore wind farm from Ørsted. The stake was valued at £717 million.

At 630MW, London Array remains one of the largest offshore windfarms globally. The farm was formally commissioned in 2013 and comprises 175 Siemens 3.6MW turbines. Other owners are RWE AG at 30%, pension fund Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec (CDPQ) at 25% and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co, otherwise known as Masdar at 20%.

Augusta & Co acted as exclusive financial advisor on all elements of the transaction’s diligence and negotiation, including the provision of debt, to meet our client’s strategic and return objectives.

“We are pleased to have used our sector knowledge and deep relationships with these stakeholders to enable this new investment partnership between our client and Schroders Greencoat”, said James Knight, Partner at Augusta & Co. “This transaction further demonstrates the enduring appeal of offshore wind renewables where large financial investors can work alongside established industry players.”
