Augusta Strengthens Energy Transition Coverage with Appointment of Stefan Walter, Managing Director

Augusta & Co is delighted to announce the appointment of Stefan Walter to the position of Managing Director.

Stefan will be responsible for expanding Augusta’s energy transition coverage, with a particular focus on the low-carbon molecules sector.

Stefan brings a wealth of experience in hydrogen derivatives, carbon capture and power-to-X finance to Augusta. Previously, he served as Principal for international consulting group DAI, advising clients in decarbonization and climate-tech sectors. Prior to that, he was an Executive Director for UBS in London, where he led M&A transactions, equity and debt capital raises across a range of chemical, industrial and energy sectors.

The appointment comes at a time of considerable activity in the global energy transition space, with regulatory incentives encouraging market adoption and increases in economically-viable project development across low-carbon molecules.

Commenting on his appointment, Stefan said: “Following a period of uncertainty, energy transition players have started to draw in international investment as a result of favourable policies, increasing commercial adoption at realistic price-levels and, critically, prudent risk management among more experienced market participants. We see a rapidly increasing capital requirement across many of the leading corporate and project developers in these markets.”

“In order to make the most of these opportunities, both for developers, technology enablers and for international investors, it is essential to have an in-depth understanding of the market’s inner workings. Augusta has established itself as a market-leading financial advisor in low-carbon generation and storage sectors, and I am excited to bring my own experience to bear as we help our clients navigate the broader energy transition trends.”
